TIME: 9:00 PM on Friday until 12:00 PM Sunday afternoon (nearly 40
hours
of non-stop gaming) J
LOCATION: Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department, 125 Crescent Road,
Greenbelt, MD Directions
via MapQuest
LOCAL LODGING: Courtyard

Inn by Marriott
All of the above listed hotels
are within 5 minutes of the location of the LAN. They vary greatly by
price based on occupancy and time of year. Unfortunately, there are no discount
room rates available for MLG LANS. Some do however, offer discounts for
internet bookings vs. just showing up at the door.
6.1.09 – Pics are
up. They are here.
5.31.09 – Woohoo…a nice LAN with an even better crowd. I think
L4D was probably the game of choice. COD (4 & 5) were a close second.
My personal favorite was the Zombie maps in W@W. Thanks to BioHazard
for the food on Friday night. It was excellent. That’s a restaurant I
plan on visiting real soon. Thanks
to all that helped setup on Friday and helped me break down and load up
the trailer this morning. Your help was greatly appreciated!
The sponsors
hooked us up for sure. Thanks to all of them, including TrendNet, Cruclal, Geeks, BAWLS and of course, MicroCenter. Also, I found a couple of items that
were left at the LAN. If you are missing anything, shoot me an email
or post it in the forums under Lost
and Found.
Next, if you
can’t wait until October for your LAN Party fix
you can try a couple of other local LANS that should be having one coming
up soon. Try InsideGamers
or Annapolis LAN. AL
just had one this month but they should be scheduling another one soon.
Lastly, I should
have the pictures up by tomorrow evening. Check back tomorrow in the MLG Gallery.
5.28.09 – Ok,
the LAN starts tomorrow. Prepays will be accepted until midnight tonight.
Make sure you have everything you need before you head out. I will have
some stuff there in the event you forget something. Ask and I will help
you out if I have it. Cya tomorrow evening (earlier if I have spoken with
you and your going to help setup).
Also,
I wanted to thank BioHazard for
hooking us up with some snacks from his restaurant Si Salsa’s in
Pikesville. He is bring out some chimmy chongas (little finger ones) and tons (yes, TONS) of
chips and dip (salsa). He will be
there for the start of the LAN and is also providing us with some
discount coupons for the restaurant for give-a-ways. Thanks!!
5.26.09 – Only a
few days until the LAN. This LAN will max out at 45 attendees (due to the
restrictive electric). I have sent out the first set of updates via email
(mass email via the forums). If you have not received any updates, ensure
your email is up to date in the forums.
5.23.09 – Guys..I got the box from Crucial Memory. They sent us
some sticks of memory, t-shirts, stickers, squeezy memory hogs (stress
relievers) and some boomerangs. Some good stuff for the peeps! Additionally, BAWLS has provided us with a case of
their tasty go go juice to give-a-way. Also, it looks like we are going
to have a decent size crowd this time around.
**Please
make sure you have joined the forums. This is the vehicle I use for email
updates and if you are not a member, you will not get the emails**
I will start sending out the updates this weekend regarding versions
being played, additional sponsors, etc., that occur prior to the
LAN. I have the admin
authentication system turned on with the Forums. When you register please
shoot me an email me and I will ensure you are authenticated promptly.
5.20.09 – Hay
its CompMage here! Check it out. MicroCenter
gave us all the HOOK UP! Check this case out. It's the Antec Mini
P180 White Steel. Remember every paying person gets a chance at
the case. I know I wish I could keep it. See you all there!
Also if you have
not checked things out, THE GXL
out of NJ is having their largest LAN yet!!! 768 PEOPLE! We will be
making a showing. Please contact me on the forum thread if you plan to
attend. We will be renting a room. I can normally get us great seats. If
you have never been to a TRUELY HUGE LAN before. Make sure you got to
this. It's the weekend after the October MLG LAN.
5.12.09 –
Hey..how about everyone’s significate others come FREE?
Yes, Girls will be FREE WITH A PAID
ENTRANCE FEE. Few conditions; (1) they must still RSVP; (2) must
accomany a full paid entrance admission; (3) their numbers do not count
towards the kitchen, generator, ending the LAN early; (4) It is for this
MAY LAN only, lastly they do count towards the total number for the LAN
(due to electric). With the number we have RSVP’d I don’t think this will
be a problem at this LAN. If it works out, we may be able to do it at
every LAN.
5.11.09 – I just
received word from CPU
(Computer Power User Magazine) that they are hooking us up with
some copies of their latest issue. If you have never read their magazine,
you are really missing out on some of the best tech articles written.
5.7.09 – Thanks
to -7-Slappy for updating the MLG May LAN Poster. Please distribute
freely. Its available here
for download. It has the new updated/reduced pricing and the updated list
of sponsors.
5.6.09- NEW
SPONSOR – Crucial Memory is
also sponsorsing May’s LAN. They are sending out some swag for us. As
soon as I find out what it is I will pass it along!
5.5.09 - NEW LOWER
ENTRANCE FEE - The May LAN
has been reduced in price to only $20 prepay. The new price will show up
when you prepay via Paypal. Those of you have have already paid will get
a partial refund at the LAN. See me (Leatherman) when you get there.
5.4.09 – I have
heard back from MicroCenter.
They are also sponsoring the May LAN with some of their swag bags! Thanks
MicroCenter!
5.2.09 - TrendNet has
provided us with some nice give-a-way material including a 300Mbps
Wireless N Gbit Router, Model TEW-633GR for a give-a-way! The specs are available on their
website here.
This thing looks SWEET. It has some great reviews on Newegg with an
average of 4/5 stars with over 450 reviews.
4.28.09 – Today
I received a box from TrendNet
with their give-a-way material. I have not had a chance to go through it
yet. I will post up what they sent as soon as I get a chance.
4.27.09 – So far
I have received the swag from Computer
Geeks. They sent us a Kodak EasyShare 8.1 mp Camera kit, a set of
Hi-Fi S-XBS Wireless Headphones, Logitech Extreme PC Gaming Headset with
Mic, 3 LED adjustable Headlamp and an iVO Sound 2GB USB 2.0
MP4/MP3/FM/Voice Player. All very nice! Thanks GEEKS!
4.2.09 – I am
working on new sponsors for this upcoming years LANs. I will keep you
advised of whats going on. Thanks to LT for creating the new
MLG Poster advertising the upcoming LAN in May. Please distribute the final
version freely. We also
have some version updates for the games that we play. I will post them
about 2 or so weeks prior to the LAN.
Also, I built a faster
server for use at the LANs. Its based on a Quad Core Xeon Processor and
runs very well. This will help me in not having to bring but the one
server to each LAN for hosting games.
Finally, the
Firehouse is doing some remodeling for the next number of months. They
are updating their dated kitchen with modern appliances and are updating
some other parts of the firehouse as well. This will make the kitchen
unavailable for at least the next LAN and possibly the October LAN as
well. I will keep you advised.
3.7.09 – The 2009 LAN dates are set.
They are May 29-31 and October 23-25, 2009. Yes, only two dates. With a
more hectic work schedule for me and having so many local LANs at the
beginning of the year, it was difficult to schedule dates. Knowing how
the FH wants to do the dates in the future, we should be back up to 3 or
4 per year for 2010. Please mark
your calendars now and remember to get in your RSVPs EARLY (they can be
sent in anytime starting now).
